Cheesecake Puffs

These sweet cheesecake puffs combine creamy cheesecake filling with delicious cherries inside golden, flaky puff pastry. They're an easy dessert that's perfect for holidays, special occasions or satisfying your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of gluten free puff pastry, thawed
  • Plain cream cheese, cold
  • Gluten free cherry pie filling or homemade cherry fruit sauce
  • Unsalted butter, softened, for greasing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the muffin pan. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a muffin pan with softened unsalted butter.
  2. Prepare the puff pastry. Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a clean surface. Using a sharp knife, cut into approximately 2½ inch squares. Gently press each square into a muffin cup, shaping the pastry along the bottom and sides. Leave the corners sticking up to create a decorative shape when baked.
  3. Prepare the filling. You can use homemade cherry fruit sauce or store bought cherry pie filling. If using store bought filling, always check the label to ensure it is gluten free.
  4. Fill the pastry. Place approximately ½ teaspoon of cold cream cheese into each pastry cup. Top with one cherry or approximately ½ teaspoon of cherry pie filling.
  5. Bake. Place the muffin pan in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed up and golden brown.
  6. Serve. Allow to cool slightly before removing from the muffin pan. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Nonna's Tip

Save time by using store bought cherry pie filling! I love using E.D. Smith cherry pie filling for this recipe. Just remember to check the packaging to confirm it's gluten free before using.
